Greetings from the WorldSkills Shanghai 2026 Competition Preparation Week
WorldSkills Shanghai will take place on 22–27 September 2026 in China. Finland will send its national team to the WorldSkills Competition. Last week, our skills experts participated in the Preparation Week to support the development of competition arrangements in Shanghai.

Taitaja2026 finalists announced
The finalists of Taitaja2026, the Finnish National Skills Competition, were announced on Thursday, 12 February. A total of 400 vocational students have earned their place in the finals through the semifinals held at the end of January. Taitaja2026 offers the finalists a direct pathway to further studies at universities of applied sciences. A list of the finalists is attached.

Call for competitors for Finland’s Abilympics national team
Educational institutions can nominate competitors for the Abilympics 2027 event from January 2 to March 30. The goal is to have a Finnish competitor in every skill category.

The Amispäiväkirjat series, which follows the lives of young people studying in vocational education, received an honourable mention from the Trade Union of Education in Finland (OAJ).

Tsemppari Honorable Mention to Vocational College Spesia
The discretionary Tsemppari Honorable Mention is presented annually to a small education provider that has demonstrated exceptional activity in the Taitaja skills competition. This year, the award was given to Vocational College Spesia, whose medal placements in the Taitaja competition have increased.

EuroSkills medallist Inka created a gown for the Presidential Independence Day Reception
A gown radiating classic glamour, designed and created by Inka Nurminen, 19, a student of the textile and fashion sector who was awarded a bronze medal in the European Championship for young professionals, will be seen at the Presidential Palace during the Independence Day Reception.
