Vocational education and training students are satisfied with their studies. The survey on the image of vocational education and training commissioned by the Ministry of Education and Culture and Skills Finland every two years shows that studies are considered practical, versatile, useful, flexible and relaxed. Vocational education and training is considered particularly suitable for those who have found their own field and profession and for whom studies involving concrete work are preferred.
Noora Salo, a student at the Perho Culinary, Tourism & Business College, was selected as the new ambassador for vocational skills competitions and vocational education and training in the Taitaja2021 Oulu competition.
Master of Science in Economics and Business Administration Maria Ekroth started work as CEO of Skills Finland on 26 March 2021. Skills Finland’s long-time CEO Eija Alhojärvi will retire during this spring.
The coronavirus pandemic changed the way the national skills competition Taitaja is implemented. The semifinals were organised in a new, divided way and so will be the competition finals in May. Unfortunately, we cannot include international competitors in the finals, but it is possible to participate in the online seminars and events from abroad.
The Finnish National Vocational Championship Taitaja2021 sees 1520 vocational students sign up for semi-finals. The semi-finals act as a qualifying round for the finals, which are to take place in May 2021.
