Training competitions help everyone to succeed – "We share a common passion, regardless of country or location”
The Pâtisserie and Confectionery skill organised an international training camp at Saimaa Vocational College Sampo, inviting all countries participating in WorldSkills Lyon 2024. Finnish exponents of the skill have found that it pays to meet and share information.

Fashion Technology was organised in close co-operation with companies
Skills Finland awarded the Entrepreneurship Award 2024 to skill Fashion Technology in cooperation with the Federation of Finnish Enterprises.

Cleaning Services introduced new technology to competition tasks
Taitaja Award in Occupational Safety and Well-Being at Work 2024 was given to Cleaning Services. Skills Finland hands out the award in cooperation with LähiTapiola.

Horse Care emphasised animal and human well-being
Taitaja Award in Sustainability 2024 was given to Horse Care. The skill was organised in a way that enhanced well-being of both horses and people. Evaluators Anu Salo and Katja Katajamäki write about the evaluation process.

New skills and happy encounters at the WorldSkills Europe Secretariat
In addition to her daytime work, Skills Finland's Office Manager Maria Atzmon worked part-time at the WorldSkills Europe Secretariat in 2018–2023. WSE is the background organisation for the EuroSkills competitions. In the interview, Maria tells us what she was able to experience over the years.

Participation without competing
Vocational skills competitions are a good way for students to develop their skills. Competing is not, however, the only way to achieve this goal: one can also accumulate competence behind the scenes.

KeudaSkills inspired teachers and students
Last autumn, Keuda (Finnish VET provider in the Uusimaa area) organised its own Skills competition for the first time. Approximately 400 students participated in KeudaSkills, which included 47 sector-specific competitions. According to KeudaSkills' Competition Coordinator Janne Jousiaho, the event is here to stay.

Teija Ripattila: Memorable years on the Board of WorldSkills Europe
Teija Ripattila, Chief Training Manager of Skills Finland, served on the Board of WorldSkills Europe (WSE) for more than nine years, including two years as Chair of the Board. WorldSkills Europe is the organisation behind EuroSkills competitions. In her writing Teija describes experiences that she has had in the past years.
