Finland has participated in international skills competitions from 1989. Team Finland has won over 140 medals in WorldSkills, EuroSkills and Abilympics competitions.

Finland has participated in all International Skills Competitions since 1989. In the beginning the International Skills Competitions were called Skills-Olympics. The name WorldSkills Competition was used for the first time at the Competitions in Montreal in 1999. The first EuroSkills competition was organized in 2008 and Finland has been a part of EuroSkills since the beginning. Finland has been a part of The International Abilympics Competition for competitors that need assistance since 2007.

In all competitions a gold, silver and bronze medal is awarded. In addition to the medals, at the WorldSkills and EuroSkills competitions Medallion for Excellence awards are given to those competitors who managed to achieve a score above the mean.

Altogether Finland has achieved over 140 medals in WorldSkills, EuroSkills and Abilympics competitions.
