The Board of Skills Finland has, during the board meeting of the 9th of September 2020, decided to withdraw Finland’s participation at the EuroSkills Graz 2020 Competition. The decision is based on an evaluation, that the competitions cannot be held in January in such a way, as to guarantee the safety and health of competitors and experts due to the current Covid19-pandemic. During the evaluation, education providers that were participating in the sending of competitors or experts were consulted.

Skills Finland acts responsibly in planning its competitions and in its participation in them. We carefully follow the guidelines issued by the authorities regarding the development of the Covid19-pandemic. We are preparing to host the Taitaja2021 Oulu event responsibly and safely in cooperation with OSAO and other educational institutions who are participating in the organization of the event. We are preparing for the WorldSkills Shanghai 2021 Competitions according to the schedule, but the final decision regarding the participation of the Team will be made only if, and with such conditions that, it is risk-free.

WorldSkills Europe and EuroSkills Graz announced that the competitions will not be taking place in January 2021 due to the worsening coronavirus situation.
